Dear Sir/Madam
I take this opportunity to thank the YMCA, Romford, Childcare department for their support throughout a seamless move for my six year old son’s from his former after-school care provider to YMCA at Wykeham Hall.
From the moment I telephoned the YMCA to query whether they could accommodate my son, all the staff I dealt with (Gemma, Alison and Sarah in the office and Mel and the other girls (I’m rubbish with names) at the hall) were polite, informative, accommodating and most importantly, reassuring .
Sarah was extremely efficient and ensured that all the required paperwork was issued to me promptly and the move took place within a week.
Our visit to the Hall was equally enjoyable. Mel fully explained the daily routine and security procedures while the other girls tried to engage my son who was a bit shy and apprehensive. I left very confident that the YMCA would be more than suitable to care for my precious little boy.
And when I have collected my son each day since he started, I have been impressed with what I saw upon arrival. The activities are fun, well structured and organised; every child seems to be taking part and every child looks content. Even when watching a video one evening, all the children were sitting quietly and were happily watching the film or whispering amongst themselves.
I have been asked for my security password each night without fail despite the staff knowing who I am by now.
The most important factor is that my son is happy and content to the extent that he was ‘told off’ for enthusing about the YMCA with his classmates during the school day when he should have been writing his ‘news’! He loves the afternoon walk from school to the Hall and has enjoyed all the activities, even asking that I don’t collect him too early! And he is so proud that he has been awarded a star already.
The staff at our school office have also commented that the YMCA staff are always there before the bell goes at the end of the day and are waiting to collect the children.
As a mum who feels guilty enough that she has to work and cannot collect her child from school, I am delighted with the YMCA After School Care provision and the thought my son is happy and well cared for goes a long way to allaying that guilt.
Please feel free to use this letter to promote the facility, should you feel the need
Yours
C. Robson
