Romford YMCA is one of the first sports facilities in the country to install a four station sports wall.
The wall which consists of four panels each containing seven interactive lamps is designed to provide a fun filled enjoyable way of exercising without realising that you are doing so.
Sports Development Manager Mark Marley issued a challenge at the ABM where anyone who beats him at the sports wall will receive £50 of Mark’s own money.

Jason has left the building.
Jason joined Romford YMCA as a volunteer from America in 2004. He returns home on 5th October leaving behind many memories. We wish Jason well in the future and look forward to receiving news from him. There cannot be many people sufficiently mad to skate down the side of the building rather than abseiling.

Romford YMCA has maintained links with the YMCA movement in Bulgaria.
In September Ron Gale, the Board Member with responsibility for our International Relationships, was accompanied by the Chair of the Management Services Committee Dave Harris and the Client Services Director Paul Morton-Kemp on a visit to Bulgaria to see the work that is currently being developed in Bulgaria. It is hoped that further links will be enhanced between us.

The Annual Abseil event took place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September.
On Saturday 82 intrepid abseilers launched themselves from the roof of our 10 storey hostel followed by a further 95 abseilers on Sunday. The youngest was just 12 years of age and the oldest 75 year old Ron Thomas raising money for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. The abseil is run as a joint event with Havering East Rotary Club with each participant raising money for the Charity of their own choice.
Next years event will take place on 16th & 17th September 2006 and run as usual by our Director of Client Services Paul Morton-Kemp.
Please post your comments to give our brave abseilers your support.
